There are total three parts English, Quantitative portion consists of math ,Analytical reasoning but this is for GAT general while for GAT Subject you have to prepare English, Analytical reasoning and Subject portion. The subject portion covers 70% of the total test.it means that you have to do more focus on this portion. if you want to appear for GAT general you need to focus more on Analytical reasoning portion which will be more difficult for you while the remaining two portions English and math quantitative having 60% marks arrangement means 30% each one will be under consideration along with the first one.

Take a notebook and start collecting MCQs properly .it will be more better if you find out the cause of right and wrong answer this procedure will clear your concept forever .you can't believe it will make your memory very strong and concrete. Similarly , for GAT Subject preparation collect all past MCQs plus all those in your subject but not all subjects only the subject which you have chosen for Specialization in master degree or BS degree.

For example a student of MSC chemistry. He has to study thoroughly MCQs and topics of that subject in which he has done specialization. For the analytical reasoning portion you need to do more hard work because it is more difficult as compared to other portions. You can perform well in the remaining two parts cooperatively.
if you can improve your general ability level the IQ level you can do much more to get higher score in the GAT test and can qualify the test easily .
One thing I remember you that the most important thing is the time management during the test. Because there are 100 MCQs and 120 minutes time. Most of the students mis-manage the time factor during the test. So you need to manage the time properly. For all kinds of exams time is very very important thing. You know most of the candidates couldn't attempt the test properly due to wrong time management which causes bad result .
Such kinds of test are also arranged for scholarships from HEC side to give financial support to the poor students.
