Guess what? Scientists just discovered the oldest supermassive black hole ever!

This black hole is fiery-red and dates all the way back to the beginning of the universe.

It’s like finding a fossil from outer space!

How cool is that?

Scientists have found a really big black hole that's super red and growing in the dark part of space a long time ago. They used a cool telescope called the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) as part of a program called UNCOVER.

The super cool red color of the quasar-looking thing is because the universe is getting bigger. As the universe stretches out, the light coming towards us turns red, showing that there's a bunch of gas and dust around the black hole.

After looking really closely at everything, scientists figured out that the red light started way back when the universe was just a baby, only 700 million years old.

Lukas Furtak and Adi Zitrin from Ben-Gurion University found out that a supermassive black hole in a galaxy is way bigger than they thought. It's about 40 million times heavier than our Sun! That's a lot of mass for one black hole.
